testing AND REIMBURSEMENT requirements
To receive your testing reimbursement of $8.00 per cow, you must complete a whole milking-herd milk test, or a whole milking-herd blood test for Johne's during your herd's assigned testing window. (View testing schedule)
TO USE THE MILK TEST
DHI Herds: Contact your Customer Service Representative.
Non-DHI Herds: Contact CanWest DHI at 1-800-549-4373 for sampling options and related fees. Submit cow information (cow ID, birth dates, calving dates) with their samples.
TO USE THE BLOOD TEST
DHI Herds and Non-DHI Herds: Contact your veterinarian for sampling options and related fees. Along with your samples, please submit the following to the Animal Health Lab:
- Herd Information Form (cow ID, breed, birth date or lactation number, and calving date)
- Testing Submission Form (received in mail)
- AHL Ruminant Submission Form (filled out by your vet)
Review test results for high titre cows (greater than or equal to 1.0 on milk ELISA or equivalent for blood)
If high titre animals are identified:
NEW! After removal of all HT animal(s) is confirmed, the program will provide you with $500 based per HT cow(s) identified, for assistance with managing your Johne’s problem.
Complete an on-farm Risk Assessment Management Plan (RAMP) with your herd veterinarian and submit to the Program Coordinator. As part of the Johne's program, the RAMP must be done within 90 days of your test day.
Testing Payment: Producers are responsible for direct payment of testing costs to CanWest DHI or their veterinarian or the Animal Health Laboratory (AHL).
