JOHNE'S PROGRAM

Johne’s infection robs dairy producers of potential income through reduced milk production and early culling of valuable cows. At least 1 in 5 dairy herds in Ontario have Johne’s infected cows.

Commencing in January 2010, the Johne's Education and Management Assistance Program is four-year testing program designed to provide Ontario dairy producers with management solutions to Johne's Disease. The four main components of this program are:

Education
Risk Assessment Management Plan (RAMP)
Herd Testing
Permanent Removal of High-Test Positives
